Authors have their favorite reference or inspirational book that they depend on for help with their craft. At a recent writers’ group meeting, we shared some of the books we use to help with writing. I found the list interesting and hope you can find some tools for yourself in it.

Thanks, I tried to choose wisely. I have used the Write Bran exercise book and I love it. Most of the other books have been recommended by fellow writers. The Flip Dictionary will get a lot of use from every wirter, i think.

Thanks for the book suggestions. I like John Gardener's book on writing and loved where he emphasized that in fiction, the writer has to 'suspend disbelief' - the reader knows that it's fiction; the writer has to draw the reader in and create a reality.

Yes, Gardner makes a great point. Sometimes writers work way too hard trying to make fiction "rea."
